The Chino Basin Program is advancing as a major water storage and purification effort that would treat recycled water, store it in the Chino Basin aquifer, and strengthen local water supply reliability.
The program’s public benefits remain central to its Water Storage Investment Program funding, including ecosystem support through Feather River pulse flows, improved local water quality, and emergency water supply capacity.
While the project has made progress on design, agreements, and funding, it still faces key milestones ahead, including environmental recertification, final public benefit contracts, local funding agreements, and a projected final award hearing in 2027.
